Rice College Flag Day

24th December 2011

A huge thank you to all our volunteers, who gave of their time,on the 24th of December 2011 for our school Flag Day.

We would also like to thank all our supporters for their generosity.

Special thanks to Liddy Gala, Lynch’s Centra, Dunne’s Stores and Tesco for facilitating us again this year.

Our Flagday had Gárda permission and was supervised.

Boxes were sealed and collected by the 3 officers of the Parents Association.

All assistance was graciously appreciated.

Total raised by Flag Day was €3298.36

 Important Notices - Parents Council

1. Flag Day

Rice College Parents Council are organising a Flag Day on December 24th to help raise funds for all pupils and educational activities in our school.

If you can give 1 hour to help with the fundraising could you please ring the school with your name, the time you are available and a contact number before Wednesday morning the 21st December.

2. Newly Elected Officers

The newly elected officers of the Parents Council are

3. Parent Talks

If any parent has any issue that they would like to be a topic for one of the upcoming Parent Talks evening could they please send in their idea to the school and it will be forwarded to a member of the Parents Council Committee.

 Munster Colleges Hurling Final 2011

Rice College 2-7       Coláiste an Spiorad Naomh 2-4

Congratulations to Rice College who were crowned Munster Colleges Corn Iognaid Rís Champions (under 16.5) at Ballyhea in Cork on Wednesday 7th December 2011.

The victory marked the College's First Provincial Hurling success since 1979, a gap of 32 years.

Parents Council AGM

The Parents Council AGM will take place on Tuesday 29th November @ 7:30pm in the Rice College Reception Area.

The meeting will be followed by a brief talk/presentation for 40mins that may be of interest to parents wishing to help pupils to adapt to second level schooling.

Bishop's Visit

Bishop Kieran O'Reilly visited Rice College on Wednesday 23rd November 2011.

He was greeted by the Student Council and took time to visit classes throughout the College.

He addressed the Staff and was entertained by Pupils with Music and Set Dancing.
